October Updates
Hello dear readers,
I’m writing to you in a very sleepy mood. It’s been a very busy, tiring, but also fulfilling start to the Autumn and I’ve been dreaming a lot. I want to give a shoutout to The Mapping Mugwort class I took a few weeks ago offered by Field Meridiens and taught by Cara Piazza. I think the Mugwort has definitely influenced my dreams.
I am in a group exhibition that opened yesterday at Raven Row in London. The exhibition is called Chronoplasticity or How to Eat a Rolex. The exhibition is curated by Juan Pablo García Sossa and features artwork from myself, Aycoobo, Kathleen Bomani, Gabriel Chaile, Stephanie Comilang & Simon Speiser, Nolan Oswald Dennis, Ximena Garrido-Lecca, Javier Guzmán Cervantes / ex soup, Sarah Kazmi, Marcos Kueh, Mwana & Latedjou, Semilla AI studio, Hexorcismos, Antonio Pichillá Quiacaín, and Paola Torres Nuñez del Prado. This group show is in a specific section of the gallery that used to be a flat belonging to an occupant named Rebecca and still contains many of her furnishings. If you are able to visit Rebecca’s flat at Raven Row, please send me photos :)
For this exhibition I created an artist book of “double images.” I printed family photographs on either side of paper and then used encaustic wax to create transparency so that you could ‘look through’ one image and into another. These double images align around certain objects, places, or people.
Some images of my work below that I took before I sent it overseas!
I also wanted to mention that I haven’t closed submissions for my open call for kolams. So if you still want to submit, please do! I hope to start working on this project after the next two weeks.
As always, thank you for reading and sweet dreams!
